REMEMBERING 9/11 20 YEARS LATER
Published on Saturday, September 11, 2021

On this day, 20 years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, we remember and honor the 2,996 Americans who perished that fateful morning and recognize the courage and selflessness of the heroic first responders who put service and sacrifice above all else. We also hold near to our hearts the 61 members of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, who were among those lost at the World Trade Center. They were our brothers and sisters, and they will always be remembered. In the tragic aftermath of September 11, 2001, ten thousand BCTC members stood side-by-side with the FDNY, NYPD, and other first responders to support in recovery efforts out of a sense of duty to city and nation – a true testament to the resiliency of New York and our members.

20 years later, our hearts are still heavy, but we vow never to forget.

-Gary LaBarbera, President of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York
